CEO, Founder & Güru of Improvides
You and I have something in common.
Just like me, you understand the immense value that new ideas can bring.
But you’ve probably also been frustrated by just how hard it is to get your ideas to have an impact.
Maybe you’re an artist and you’ve felt ignored.
Maybe you’re in a business which is trying to innovate, but finding that your customers don’t seem as enthusiastic about your new offerings as you are.
Or maybe you work somewhere with a culture which is just resistant to change.
Trust me, I’ve been in all of those situations, and it sucks. It’s enough to make you want to bang your head against a wall.
What you want is to have ideas effortlessly which immediately solve whatever challenge you have.
What if you could learn the real insights and capabilities that made visionaries like Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein and Sir Richard Branson such successful innovators?
Imagine being able to come up with new ideas, solutions and innovations faster than you ever thought possible.
And then imagine being able to execute and manage those innovations so that your business can grow, and your customers will thank you for exceeding their wildest dreams.
You can feel the fear of failure and frustration just melt away
That was always my vision. But something was holding me back.
You see, after college I went to work for one of the biggest management consulting firms in the world. I was there for years, and worked on some of the biggest and most expensive projects in the world. On one project, I was flown to Holland every week. On another, I completely redesigned a multi-billion pound project portfolio for a logistics company.
By far the best project was the 2+ years I worked with Team GB Olympic athletes and their sponsors, leading up to and during the London 2012 Olympics. I was lucky enough to even be part of the athlete march when they were welcomed into the Olympic Village!
But throughout all my time as a consultant, there was one thing which was always there in the back of my mind:
I was always discouraged from suggesting new ideas. Especially in front clients (the people we’re trying to help)!
“New ideas are risky and unproven. Innovation is difficult, dangerous and expensive. You need to stick with what you know works.”
My job while I was there to help manage huge change programmes. And yet the company I was working for was resistant to change!
But deep down, I knew that being able to innovate was the most valuable thing a business can do.
So I decided to do something about it:
I want to teach you everything you need to build your ability to generate new ideas and innovate.
I started Improvides to help you understand how creativity works, what determines if your innovation efforts succeed or fail, and what creates a culture where everyone in the business is adding valuable new ideas – everything you need to get the success you deserve.
By the time we’re done, you will no longer be a worrier, worried that your ideas aren’t good enough or why customers aren’t buying your offering.
You’ll be a warrior, able to adapt to and defeat any challenge that comes your way. You may even create something the world has never seen before.
I’ll change the way you look at your business. And not to be arrogant, but there are insights you’ll get from me that nobody else has.
Hello. My name is Nick Skillicorn
I founded Improvides in 2013 (UK Company Registration 8488701) to help companies and individuals just like you achieve your innovation goals.
I’ve spent years studying how ideas work, how they are produced, and what determines if an innovation is successful or a complete failure. This goes far beyond just listing case studies of successful innovations from Apple, Thomas Edison, P&G and so many other management school classes, as I try to find the science and reason behind why and how innovation works. And I use these insights to help individuals improve their creativity and help companies assess and build their innovation capabilities.
Since then, I’ve already helped thousands of entrepreneurs improve their innovation capabilities through speaking engagements, consulting work and my popular online training courses.
I’ve had the privilege to be invited to speak to advertising executives at the Cannes Festival of Creativity on how they can improve their people’s creativity.
I’ve given a TEDx speech on the neuroscience of your brain’s creativity.
And my innovation insight articles are published on some of the most respected innovation blogs out there, like Innovation Excellence, WIRED Innovation Insights and SAP Innovation.
I have, I’d argue, one of the best and most rewarding jobs in the world.
But enough about me. Let’s talk about you
You came here because you care about creativity and innovation, right?
Well, I want to help you, and here’s why:
I know what it’s like to be frustrated by having your ideas ignored. To be told to just focus on your role and to forget about changing the way things work.
The truth though?
You can generate ideas which managers will love and thank you for.
You can develop a new offering which your customers can’t wait to buy.
You can create a culture of innovation, no matter where you work.
The only thing holding you back is your lack of understanding about why so many innovation efforts are destined for failure, and why you may be unwittingly sabotaging your creativity.
But that stops now.
You and me, we’re going to turn it around. Together.
